Spirit-Led Parenting Countdown: Help us choose a cover!

Overwhelming excitement...

Extreme anticipation...

Complete freak-out...

Just a few of the emotions Megan and I are dealing with as we realize that we are less than one month away from the target release date of our book!

(Please pass the confetti! And perhaps a Xanax.)

I think our excitement climbed to previously unknown heights last weekend at Blissdom, where we were able to spend a few days connecting with amazing old and new friends, all of whom were so encouraging and thrilled for us that it moved us nearly to tears. Incredible.

The countdown picks up steam now as we're moving through the final steps. And we would LOVE your input on this (very exciting) one! Our fantastic editor, Jonathan, sent us a few cover designs, and we have narrowed them to two. Would you take a moment to look these over, consider our book's message, and share your thoughts?

(Full disclosure: Megan and I have a leaning. But we really want to hear which one resonates more with you!)

Option 1:

Option 2:

Thank you, thank you, and thank you again!

  1. I feel like the one with the mom makes me wonder "where is the dad, is this a single-mom book?". So the cover with baby makes more sense.

  2. #1 feels like the title of the book, whereas, #2 feels like the cover of any baby book out there.

  3. I love love love #1!!! The mom looks happy and released and able to enjoy her baby. The second one looks like stock footage of a random baby. Nothing to hint ay what's inside.

  4. I am really loving option 1! It is so connected and personal and option 2 is too general. I cannot wait for your book to come out! So excited!

  5. I think the colour scheme in number 1 - blue is much better than in number 2, as red is quite an aggressive colour and doesn't evoke images of spirit, whereas blue sky and green grass do that much more effectively... It also makes sense to have a picture of a parent and a baby as the book is about parenting... Hope that is helpful

    1. I agree with this commenter's point about the colors - blue and green are just... calmer. Tranquil. Peace. Spirit-led. I think it fits.

Also, I am big on font... and I DEFINITELY like the font of the title in the first one over the second.

That said... I also agree with another commenter on "where's the Dad?" But also ... the position that mama is squatting in? Um... ow! I can tell you right now... more than a few seconds like that and your calves, etc, are burning. It just doesn't look... relaxing. I love that her face is focused on baby, etc.. but it's like the upper half of her body is focused and engaged with baby but the lower half is wound tighter than a drum. :P

In summary: keep the color scheme and font of #1, but get Dad in the picture and try to get them RELAXED with baby. :)

      Just my two cents.

  6. I like option one best. It seems like it fits the theme of your book, whereas option two looks generic.

  7. Definitely the first one. I agree that the second one seems very "stock-photo-ish", and I don't care for the font.

  8. By the by... are you guys planning a "book bomb" at all and/or do you have a release date / anticipated price? My pastor's daughter and son-in-law are expecting their first child in September, and I am thinking that this would make a nice shower gift. :) For that matter, will there be any special pricing for buying bulk copies? If I enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed the blog posts on this topic, it might just become my go-to for expecting parents, hehe.
